16 Month Leadership/Rite of Passage Journey

The times we live in...
are challenging across all domains of work, family, and community. Narrow, polarized perspective is often privileged and perpetuated. Inclusion and diversity are championed in word, yet often not in practice. Increased complexity is creating reactiveness and defensiveness rather than compassion and understanding. Systems are collapsing at scales ranging from local to global. Cumulative challenge is exhausting too many of us. The times call for depth, not shallow. The times call for communal ability, not more isolation.
In North America excessive resources of time, money, and even despair, are spent annually on leadership development programs. However, results so often fail to live up to hoped-for expectations. Too many individuals and too many organizations are settling for convenience, when what is needed is the heavy lifting of inner and outer work.
We don’t lack leaders -- people who have others following them. We lack wise leaders -- those who remain grounded when gale winds blow, those who can think strategically with heart, those who can create conditions for groups to bring forward their gifts individually and collectively, and those who remain committed to what is beyond the storm.
FOR PEOPLE IN POSITIONS OF FORMAL AND INFORMAL LEADERSHIP
We welcome managers, facilitators, team leaders, consultants, coaches, entrepreneurs. We welcome educators, artists, poets, musicians, faith community leaders. We welcome those working with the older and those working with the youngers. We welcome community organizers, social change activists, government, and all positions of all people seeking a substantially better way of heart, mind, and belly.
FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T HELP BUT DWELL NEAR OR OVER THE EDGES
We welcome people that can’t help but dwell on the edges of possibility, that tremble in newness, that cannot be satisfied with only toes in the shallow end. We welcome those just starting. We welcome those who've been at it for a while and are transforming. We welcome those that can’t not go beyond the edges of the known, and those who can’t live in the complacency of the superficial, as engrained as it may be.
FOR PEOPLE WHO'S HUNCH IS THAT THE INSIDE TRANSFORMS THE OUTSIDE
We welcome those whose hunch is that much of what is needed comes from the inside, that in turn, transforms the outside. We welcome those searching to revamp how meaning is reached and to contribute with simplicity, courage, and clarity. We welcome those wanting to step into next level of personal leadership in work and life. We welcome those who follow the prompt to explore together, as community and as cohort.

Our Practices are rooted in methodologies that support, growth, connection, authenticity and a consciousness in evolution. We believe that leadership, when anchored in these things, is naturally inclusive, better informed, and more productive. These qualities move us from being leaders to being wise leaders. We have a need for wise leadership today.

Our Orientation is that it is a time to change the way we grow ourselves. It is time to change the way we grow our leaders. Many of us grow older without ever growing up. Fire & Water is about growing up leaders and therefore changing the face of leadership as we know it. We do this by weaving together all we have learned about developing strong leadership and weaving it with ancient wisdom practices around the importance and process of initiation.

Inner Change. Initiation is about meeting yourself. This meeting allows you to step into more of who you really are, more of who you were always meant to be. This meeting connects you with your own unique genius. It starts to reveal to you what you can do that no one else can. This journey integrates the inner and outer and supports you in being a wise leader in the world.

Elders/Spiritual Guides & Community Witnesses. Some journeys should be taken alone. This is not one of them. On this journey, guides and community matters. Being connected matters. This process is designed as a cohort. Participants will develop deep relationship with others across sectors, race, age, gender, and geographical locations. Fire & Water is for a unique set of people ready to take significant journey into the internal and the external of leadership. It is not for everyone. It’s not for the faint of heart. It’s not for those locked in knowing, trying to do more of the same, more tenaciously.

You will walk away with an experiential process that weaves together leadership methodologies and indigenous wisdom. This is a journey to wholeness. It is a journey to reclaiming the parts of ourselves that we hold in exile. We have lived too long with this false premise that we are compartmentalized human-beings, that we can take our professional selves to work and leave our personal selves at home. We are in a time that calls for all of us to bring all of who we are to the work that we do and the lives that we live. This journey is design for you to meet yourself and connect with your unique genius, learn new skills that integrate leadership and wisdom, and bring them back in service to your family, your company, and your community.

Tuition includes Materials, Accommodation and Meals for three face-to-face gatherings. In the case that we are unable to meet in person due to circumstances out of our control we will provide online and guided processes for our 5 day gatherings.
