Day 8: Sometimes the Little Things are the Big Things

Yesterday my 20 year old daughter ask me if I would go shopping with her to buy a dress that she wanted for a Halloween costume. She came over and spent some time organizing her room, she is moving back in soon. Then invited me to go out to lunch and then shopping. She drove.

The first store we went to she found exactly what she needed. And she paid for it. We were both surprised because it wasn’t a typical kind of dress. She is a Sci-fi and dungeon s and dragons kind of girl and the costume reflects that. As we were standing in line listening to a father tell his daughter no, she couldn’t have the item she was holding in her hand, we looked at each other knowingly. That had been us in another time. We did a little more shopping, she took me to the bank, and then we came back to the house so she could show me how it fit on her.

Today after I hosted one of our Fire & Water small groups in a Flow Game my son asked me if I would watch a show with him and braid his hair. He washed it and I braided his hair as we watched a television series hat we both like.

I get to do a lot of really cool things in life but being with theses two, being their mama, in ordinary things fills my heart with so much joy. These everyday little things moments really are the big things.
