Day 3: Reconnecting with Your Unique Genius: Navigating the Midway Point of the Fire & Water Leadership Journey

Writer: QuanitaQuanita

I hold a journey called Fire & Water. It is a 16 month Leadership/Rite of Passage Journey. It is designed to support the healing and re-connection of it’s participants to themselves, to their communities, and to their unique genius in the world.

If you are interested in finding out more about it including when the next info session with be held just look on our website under Fire & Water and/or events.

We are currently in our 4th cohort at the halfway point of the 16 months. As I was looking my notes I am struck by how easy it is to forget the things we wanted at the beginning of the journey when we are in the thick of the middle.

Here are some of the things the participants expressed in the beginning on an online call that we had:

  • Peace amidst all that is going on

  • Staying present

  • Show up soft and safe in public

  • Wanting to be held in the journey

  • Allow the challenges to teach me

  • Slow down and be in community with heart

  • Deepen trust and connection with spirit

  • Continue to learn

  • Deeper trust in self and community

  • Qualified to host spaces like this

  • Connection with my body and the divine as access to guide me

  • Acceptance

  • Slowing down

  • More light, more space

In the Art of Hosting community we call this place the Grown Zone and/or the Groan Zone. This is the place where people can falsely think that things aren't going to work out but they don't often realized that they are just in the middle and this is often what it looks like when things are working out.

During our last call many of them had forgotten this, many of them had turned away from each other in their struggles instead of turning towards each other. We live in a culture that tells us to go suffer alone but grief requires community. In these moments more than anything we need to turn towards each other. We need to be witnessed and to witness. In this deep witnessing we are all transformed.
