Lately I have been hearing a lot of people calling themselves neurodivergent, someone once even introduced themselves to me as neurospicy.
I can’t help but to wonder if neurodivergent or neurospicy is just another way for us to say we are all individuals.
We are finding more and more ways to separate ourselves from each other. We know there is no such thing as a normal person but we keep finding more ways for saying that normalcy does exist.
My son, Jacob says that the idea of normalcy was birthed through colonialisms. So I have an idea, what if instead we just each start to claim our own unique genius in the world?

Based on my observations of my ND kids (1 bio, 1 adopted, 3 bonus), ND is an identity that they have claimed to combat the feeling that there is something "wrong" with them because they don't interact with others and the world the way they think Everyone Else does. I am hoping that with time and loving encouragement, they will become increasingly secure in who they are as individuals that they will not longer feel as great a need to hold on to neurodivergence as an Identity. ❤️
